"Study of methods of the absolute distance measurement is a main goal of the project. A laser interferometer driven by a new Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser diode (VCSEL) as a primary highly-coherent source will be assembled. This kind of thesemiconductor laser has an incredible tuneability simply controlled by an operating injection current. It has a narrow-line width of the generated of the generated wavelength also. The absolute distance measurement methods based on theWavelength-Scanning Interferometry (WS-I) and Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave Interferometry (FMCW-I) techniques will be applied and developed by means of the new VCSEL. Metrology parameters accomplished by these methods will be comparedindependently with a conventional incremental laser interferometer.
