It combines modern methodological approaches using isolated cells and cell populations with the aim of understanding processes of growth and differentiation as well as regulatory and integrative mechanisms at superior organisational level, i.e. organs and the entire organism. The intent of this project is to train talented biomedical students in advanced techniques which are used in cell physiology, starting from molecular physiology, through biochemistry, protein analysis, membrane physiology, electrophysiology and biophysics, to histology, morphology and cell-to-cell signalling. This enables them better to understand the complexity of a wide variety of chemicaland physical events in the cell that are essential for the well-being of any organism including humans.
