"A present knowledge and instrumental equipment make possible to switch from phenomenological to structural material description. Irrespective of the fact that practically used materials differ in composition, shape and, first of all, in size of the basicstructural unit, their analysis can be performed in the common framework based on multilevel structural modeling. Microphotographs of structure cuts then serve as an input for model realization. Their processing results in both regular and random microstructures. Furthermore an important amount of structural defects, for instance, micro-cracks, pores, can be taken into account. This methodology will be used to study rather different materials ranging from woven composites to civil engineering applications. Multilevel models of structure will form a reliable base for an effective application of finite element method.
