In this project, we will further develop this imaging technique, in particular the 3D mapping of atomically resolved charge density of molecules and their polarization using a combination of AFM and Kelvin probe measurements with functionalized tips. Moreover, we will study the process of tautomerization, i.e. transfer of hydrogen within a single DNA nucleobase deposited on a solid crystalline surface, by means of advanced AFM/STM techniques and theoretical calculations.
