"Beneficial nematodes (entomopathogenic and slug parasitic) are attractive biocontrol agents, however, due to their worldwide natural distribution their applications pose a threat to indigenous species and genotypes. The distribution and genetic population structure of beneficial nematodes in the fragmented agricultural landscape is poorly understood. However, this information is important for the assessment of the impact of biocontrol nematodes on indigenous ones. The proposed project aims to assess the threat of use of non-native beneficial nematodes to indigenous species. An extensive survey of beneficial nematodes in agricultural landscape and the assessment of their genetic population structure will be conducted in the model area of southern Bohemia. A series of laboratory bioassays will address establishment potential of non-endemic EPNs in target areas and the outcomes of the competition between resident and commercially available beneficial nematodes."@en .
