"The lack of ecological data on pharmaceuticals (PhACs) in general has been shown by several evidences. In fact, many kinds of pharmaceuticals are not significantly removed during sewage treatment. The aim of the project is to study the effects of selected PhACs (Verapamil, Atenolol, Clotrimazole, Dexamethasone, Diltiazem) including their environmental concentrations on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and on fish cell culture models. The effect of these PhACs on exposed organisms will be detected using aquarium (in vivo)\u00A0 tests and in vitro testing. Consequently the wide spectrum of biomarkers (haematological parameters, oxidative stress biomarkers, antioxidant enzymes activities, liver enzymes activities, vitellogenin, molecular markers, energy status) will be measured in exposed fish tissues and histological and chemical analyses will be performed. Realization of the project will complete lacking information for interpretation of the results of environment pollution monitoring, especially in the case of effect of the PhACs present in the aquatic environment."@en .
