Z\u00E1va\u017Enost klinick\u00E9ho pr\u016Fb\u011Bhu KE je ovlivn\u011Bna \u0159adou faktor\u016F, mezi kter\u00E9 \u0159ad\u00EDme infek\u010Dn\u00ED d\u00E1vku a virulenci viru, v\u011Bk pacienta a stav jeho imunity, ale tak\u00E9, jak na\u0161e p\u0159edb\u011B\u017En\u00E9 v\u00FDsledky p\u0159esv\u011Bd\u010Div\u011B dokazuj\u00ED, jeho genetickou v\u00FDbavu. P\u0159edkl\u00E1dan\u00FD projekt si klade za c\u00EDl studovat rozd\u00EDly v klinick\u00E9m pr\u016Fb\u011Bhu KE a jejich genetickou determinaci. "Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE), a disease caused by tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), represents a serious viral neuroinfection of humans. Despite the medical importance of this disease, some crucial steps in the development of encephalitis remain poorly understood. In humans, TBEV may produce a variety of clinical symptoms, from an asymptomatic disease to a fever and acute or chronic progressive encephalitis. This is influenced by a variety of factors, e.g. inoculation dose and virulence of the virus, age and immune status of the host, but also, as our preliminary results strongly suggest, by susceptibility based on host genetic background. Here, we propose a research project to study differences in clinical course of tick-borne encephalitis, and its genetical determination. As a model for TBE, recombinant congenic mouse strains will be used, since these mice develop TBE of various severity, and this correlates with the situation in humans.
