"Gravitropic growth represents one of the critical developmental adaptations in plants. Recent model ofgravitropic stimuli sensing in roots suggest actin-mediated changes in the PIN3 localization that induce redirecting of the auxin flux. Resulting asymmetrical auxin distribution leads to the differential elongation growth rate and root bending. Other auxin transporters, e.g. AUX1 and PIN2 were shown to contribute to the asymmetric auxin localization and the role of cytokinins (CKs) in the regulation of the root gravitropic response was also suggested. However, the underlying molecular mechanism remains to be identified.In our recent work, we show that depletion of endogenous CKs leads to downregulation of PIN2 and PIN4 and abnormal auxin distribution. Our preliminary results suggest that these plants are affected in their ability to sense gravitropic stimuli. The aim of the project is to identify the role of endogenous CKs and underlying molecular mechanisms in the regulation of gravistimulus-induced auxin flux redirection via CK-mediated control of auxin transport machinery."@en . .
