"The goal of the project is to describe critical areas of primary school mathematics in which pupils often fail, i.e., do not master them on a level allowing them to develop their mathematical literacy and its creative usage in everyday life, and to classify empirical didactic practices created by experienced teachers with the aim to help pupils master the subject. Based on an analysis, theoretical principles of efficiency of these practices will be identified as well as the conditions for the application of the principles in teaching. Surveys of relevant research from countries with comparable cultural background will be carried out. The methodology will comprise a qualitative part (individual interviews, focus groups, observations, clinical experiments with pupils) and a questionnaire survey with the aim to verify results gained in the qualitative research. The products of the project will consist of partial studies, a monograph summarising the results, a manual for teachers with didactic recommendations and a proposal for an implementation of the results in teacher preparation."@en .
