"The project proposes several innovations as a reaction to the ongoing de-standardization and pluralization of educational attainment strategies, which increasingly include interrupted education and repeated school transitions. The standard instrument in the field of educational stratification \u2013 Mare\u2019s sequential logit model \u2013 must be extended in order to capture adequately these trends. Possible extensions include: 1. an application of HLM to investigate repeated school transitions, 2. improved estimates of the effects of parental SES due to its enhanced, repeated measurement, 3. intentionally postponed education, which may be explored using the conditional logit model. These innovations may also help circumvent one ubiquitous problem that plagues educational transitions research: namely that of unobserved heterogeneity. Innovations will be tested and illustrated using data from existing surveys, e.g. the \u201CSocial stratification in Eastern Europe after 1989\u201D and the Czech life-course supplement to the 2002 ISSP."@en . . .
