"New methods for analysis of proteins and their glycosylation in cancer.Combination of electrochemistry, microfluidic biosensors and mass spectrometry.The proposed work deals with studies of chemical modifications and interactions of proteins, polysaccharides, oligosaccharides and glycoproteins aimed at development of new, sophisticated methods of biomarker analysis in biomedicine and cancer research. Interactions of these compounds with different surfaces and particularly with electrodes will be studied to develop new highly sensitive electrochemical methods. New technologies involving microfluidics electrochemistry and microreactors coupled to electrospray mass spectrometry will be developed. This research will allow designing of new protocols for analyses of proteins and glycoproteins in blood, serum or plasma for both exploratory and routine analysis of biomarkers. While the primary targets in this project will be the prostate specific antigen and the p53 tumor suppressor protein, the developed technology is expected to be of general use for biomarkers analysis."@en . . . . . .
