"The goal of the project are study and characterization of vermiculite structures after mechanochemical procedures (ball grinding, jet-milling, cation exchange, organofilization, exfoliation, acid leaching, thermaltreatment, and ultrasound ) that are essential for successful synthesis of vermiculite functional nanofillers and substrates. Vermiculite nanofillers exfoliated in polyethylene or polyurethane will be characterized along with improved polymers characteristics (e.g. the heat deflection temperature and flame retardance). The bacteriostatic vermiculite substrates of metal nanoparticles and/or organic compounds will be characterized as active nanofillers into polymers. Their evaluation will prosper to their further use in antibacterial composites. Vermiculites and their intercalates in preceramic powders are supposed to be decisive for the formation of new forms of porous ceramic cordierite nanocomposites, which have not been studied in detail."@en .
