"Seismic observations indicate that the Earth is anisotropic and anelastic in regions of special interest for geophysics. Seismic waves propagating in such media propagate with velocity, which is directionally dependent and their amplitudes are directionally attenuated. Very often, anisotropy and/or attenuation are weak, but their effects are observable and can be thus used for gaining more details about intrinsic properties of the medium. Study of wave propagation in heterogeneous weakly attenuating and/or weakly anisotropic media\u00A0is impossible without use of perturbation approaches. We concentrated on perturbation approaches in the project GA CR 205/08/0332. We used perturbation approaches in two important problems: seismic wave propagation in perfectly elastic, weakly anisotropic media and in seismic wave propagation in anisotropic, weakly dissipative media. In both mentioned cases, we considered smooth media without interfaces. In the proposed project, we would like to extend our former research. We would like to study combined effects of weak anisotropy and weak attenuation. We also plan to derive expressions for paraxial ray approximation and Gaussian beams based on perturbation approaches. Another goal is extension of the applicability of expressions derived during the previous and planned projects to layered media.
