"The proposed grant project is aimed at preparation and detailed characterization of self-assembled nanoparticles formed by electrostatic interaction between ionic surfactants and hydrophilic block copolymers consisting of a neutral block and an oppositely charged polyelectrolyte block. The behavior of the block polyelectrolyte/surfactant (PE-S) systems and structure of the formed nanoparticles will be studied by light scattering, SAXS, SANS, fluorometry, capillary zone electrophoresis, NMR spectroscopy and microscopic techniques (TEM, AFM). The goals of the project are (i) to describe PE-S nanoparticles based on novel hydrophilic block polyelectrolytes obtained in the framework of international collaboration of our laboratory and (ii) to develop a method for reproducible preparation of well-defined PE-S nanoparticles and tuning of their properties with respect to their potential applications (drug delivery vessels, etc.)"@en .
