"The project will deal with the development of novel methodologies of diverse C-H activations of purines, 3-, 7- and 9-deazapurines and pyrimidines catalyzed by complexes of transition metals (Pd, Ir, Cu, Co atd.). Major focus will be given to the development of C-H arylations, alkenylations, alkynylations, borylations and aminations and their regioselectivity in substitution of the title heterocycles. These novel methodologies will be then applied, in combinations with some previously published methods of cross-couplings and N-alkylations and -arylations, to the syntheses of large series of heterocyclic derivatives bearing several different substituents.
