"In this continuation proposal, we plan to apply the recently developed multidetection platform in the field of metallomics, for analysis of selected biological, clinical, food and environmental samples. We will characterize original sample preparation techniques for elemental analysis and speciation using ICP MS, laser diode thermal vaporization (LDTV) and substrate-assisted laser desorption (SALD), and promote their application for simple solution analysis or speciation in combination with column and planar separation techniques. A low-cost prototype device for LDTV will be developed as an alternative to nebulizers for elemental solution analysis. Samples will involve metallothioneins, phosphorylated proteins as well as inorganic metal species and complexes with bioligands. Microcolumn separations combined with SALD ICP and MALDI MS, the techniques with proved high separation efficiency and sensitivity, will be applied in the most demanding applications.
