"The main aim of the project is to gain knowledge of factors affecting interactions between synthetic surfaces and complex biological fluids so that surfaces with specific bioactivity and resistant to fouling from these fluids can be designed. A systematic research will be focused primarily on the fouling from human blood plasma and serum onto polymer brushes. This will include synthesis of brushes from polymers with various polymer backbone and side groups and characterization of their physico-chemical properties. The role of individual proteins in plasma fouling will be searched by in situ observation plasma fouling and adsorption from aqueous plasma protein solutions and identification of proteins present in plasma deposits. Various biorecognition elements will be attached on antifouling brushes and their activity and effect on the fouling will be evaluated. Model SPR biosensors capable of detecting in real time targeted analytes in serum and plasma will be prepared by application of optimum biofuctionalized antifouling brushes."@en . . . . . . . . . .
