It brings new methods for H storage, the path to strong magnetocaloric phenomena relevant to magnetic refrigeration. The project focuses on the relation of the components T and X and electronic properties as well as H absortion capacity. The primary goal is to map the existence of of compounds and their properties. At Rare Earth materials, which are also relevant to the hydrogen storage, one can likely modify the bonding conditions as much that the metal-insulator transition is achieved. For U compounds, the features of the 5f magnetism, and especially quantum critical phenomena with possible emergent phases will be investigated at the verge of magnetic order. Lattice expansion due to H absorption is a convenient tuning parameter. Thin-film hydrides (with focus on UH3 as prominent 5f ferromagnet) will be prepared by reactive sputtering.
