"The iron aluminides-based alloys excel by their specific utility properties, they are, however, so far worldwide prepared only by methods of the powder metallurgy or mechanical alloying. Their potential can be used more effectively after forming of the cast state. The objective of the project is to analyze physical and metallurgical aspects of deformation behaviour and properties of selected iron aluminides-based materials with extremely low plasticity. This way we will verify the real limits of the traditional methods (casting, hot forming) in comparison to the above mentioned expensive preparation. The quality of castings will be optimized by utilizing ultrasound by solidifying of the melt. Deformation and structure-forming processes in hot-formed castings will be studied. The thermomechanical treatment of such an as-cast alloy is affected by transverse cracking of the rolled product due to the thermal shock arising at the surface of casting, when it is coming into contact with the cold working tools."@en . . . . .
