"The target of the project is a complex study of crack initiation and mechanisms of failure in advanced composite materials for structural applications in civil, mechanical and materials engineering. Consequently, electromagnetic emission (EME) and acoustic emission (AE) from selected polymer and cement-matrix-based composite materials with various reinforcement types will be detected and evaluated. The results will be applied to studying the structure, technology, cracks development and material failure produced by mechanical loading. An important part of the project consists of a detailed analysis of test specimen stress and fracture conditions and of the justification of the load-induced EME and AE inception models.
