"Reduction of non-renewable material consumption represents one of the key issues of sustainable construction. There is a good chance to achieve this reduction by the use of composite structures from timber beams and high performance fiber silicate slim precast decks, alternatively combined with additional high performance FRP reinforcement. Such steps lead to higher effectivity of material utilization and\u00A0to environmental benefits.The composite structures based on high performance silicates and wood represent a beneficial alternative to the timber floor structures, which have limits to achieve sufficient stiffness, acoustic performance or fire resistance. The other challenge is strengthening of existing timber beam elements by surface FRP reinforcement; so that impact to existing building structure during modernization process will be reduced.
