"The aim of the project is to investigate laboratory source of soft X-rays with the wavelength 2 4 nm. Optimization of pinching capillary discharge will be performed from the point of view of spectral and spatial properties of output radiation. Monochromatic radiation in the water window spectral region will be used for measurement of spectral absorption and imaging of small biological objects (e.g. cells) in water environment. The research will be carried in cooperation of Czech Technical University in Prague (Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FNSPE) and Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (FBME)) and Institute of Plasma Physics AS CR (IPP). The soft X-ray source will be realized at FNSPE, computer experiments will be performed at IPP and imaging system together with the preparation of biological samples will be done at FBME. All participating laboratories will continue in existing cooperation with German, French, Russian and Israel partners."@en . The efficiency of generation of pulse was increased by shortening of the input laser pulses to 170ps. The results of the project were published in 8 impacted journals (among them 2x Appl.Phys.Lett.)
