"The project aims is a design and research of coherently pumped, solid state, compact lasers with new active crystalline material Cr:ZnSe, Cr:ZnMgSe, Dy:Pb2S4, and Fe:ZnSe allowing to generate radiation with wavelengths in the 2-5 micron, which may have great importance for applications in medicine, probing the atmosphere or in molecular spectroscopy. For the coherent excitation of these systems the flash-lamp as well as diode pumped lasers will be used. During the characterization of the systems the radiation parameters such as output energy, pulse length, power for cw mode, spectral and spatial structure will be measured and optimized. The resulting system should work in both - single pulse (Fe: ZnSe) and in pulse and continuous (Cr: ZnSe, Cr: ZnMgSe, Dy: Pb2S4) operation mode, and should be tunable in the range of its emission spectra. The output energies should exceed of units of mJ in pulse mode or mW in continuous operation mode. As project results the set of new scientific information will be generated together with new mid-IR laser systems."@en . .
