"Project focuses on the topic of health monitoring of composite structures using embedded active and passive elements in form of piezoelectric sensors and actuators. A monitoring system will be designed able to identify in selected locations of the structure the position and scope of induced damage and to assess the residual strength. Proper linear as well as non-linear material models of materials used will be created. Identification of material parameters and characteristics of in general dynamically loaded structures will be performed using the combination of analytical, numerical and experimental analyses. Special attention will be paid to failure criteria, as they are still unreliable for certain loading types. Therefore, the most recent criteria will be modified especially for the case of impact loaded structures. Structures so designed will be able to better fulfill constantly more stringent requirements such as weight or energy consumption reduction and increase in performance, safety and reliability."@en . . . .
