"GAP101/10/1819" . . . . "The project is focused mainly on theoretical work in the field of nucleation theory applied to selected condensation and cavitation processes. Long-standing problems in the nucleation theory will be investigated that render the predictions of the nucleation theory quite inaccurate. The dependence of the surface tension on the size of nuclei in the case of surface-active components will be studied. The nucleation in water vapor at low temperatures that the nucleation theory is unable to describe accuratelly will be treated by presuming that the resulting nuclei are solid phase. In cavitation, the dependence of the nucleation rate on the concentration of the gases dissolved in water will be searched for. The results of the enhanced nucleation theory will be fitted for use in CFD simulation software. A selected commercial CFD tool will be extended by including the description of nucleation and used for the solution of fluid flow with nucleation processes.
