"We will examine the effect of different nutrient levels on soil processes and plant-soil interactions in two wet meadows in the T\u0159ebo\u0148 Basin Biosphere Reserve (TBBR), one with mineral and the other with peat soil. Plant communities on peat soils are more\u00A0resistant to increased nutrient loading than those on mineral soils. However, less is known about how eutrophication affects soil processes and how these changes are affected by soil type. We hypothesize that increased nutrient loading will significantly affect C and N fluxes and budgets more in the peat wet meadow than the one with mineral soil. Fertilization treatments will be established in the two wet meadows. Rates of soil microbial processes, C and N accumulation, greenhouse gas emissions, litter decomposition, and plant nutrient uptake, nutrient use efficiency (NUE), photosynthesis and transpiration will be measured using in situ and controlled laboratory experiments.
