The present project is aimed at testing medium-chain fatty acids, primarily free or bound caprylic and capric acid, as supplements of rabbit post-weaning diets. These acids are natural antibacterial compounds of the rabbit milk fat and possible alternatives to antibiotics. Both laboratory and animal studies are intended. Animal studies comprise field experiments and digestibility trials. Susceptibility of intestinal and enteropathogenic bacteria to fatty acids, zootechnical parameters in control and treated rabbits, and digestibility of nutrients will be evaluated."@en .
