For plant survival, the most important is regulation of transpiration and stabilization of water status. For their further growth, no less important is photosynthetic rate corresponding to naturally grown plants. However, little is known about the fact that the plantlets might be impaired by sudden increase in irradiance after ex vitro transfer which can cause photoinhibition and/or production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Thereforethe suggested project is aimed at these limitations to ex vitro transfer. We will try to find the way how to eliminate or at least ameliorate them. We will focuse on changes in contents of endogenous ABA, on stomatal and non-stomatal effects of ABA, and on possibility to prevent photoinhibition by ABA application or to prevent the negative effects of ROS by ABA-induced stimulation of antioxidative enzymes.
