"Since the onset of the Cognitive Revolution, cognitive study has been dominated by an approach which largely and deliberately excluded the emotions from consideration. (Gardner, 1987; Bruner, 1986) However, work done in the last ten years has forced a reconsideration of the role of emotions in human psychology, most especially with respect to the way in which cognition may be influenced by emotional and motivational factors. Because the Cognitive Revolution has also been the dominant force in the linguistic research of the last half century, the role the emotions might play in the nature of language has also tended to be side-stepped. Thus it seems appropriate to take the research which has enhanced our understanding of the importance of emotion and to apply it to our understanding of language. Vzhledem k tomu, \u017Ee kognitivn\u00ED revoluce b\u011Bhem posledn\u00EDho p\u016Flstolet\u00ED tak\u00E9 p\u0159evl\u00E1dala ve zkoum\u00E1n\u00ED jazyka, tak funkce, kterou by emoce mohly m\u00EDt v z\u00E1kladech jazyka, byla tak\u00E9 odsouv\u00E1na do pozad\u00ED. Zd\u00E1 se tud\u00ED\u017E vhodn\u00E9 se v\u011Bnovat takov\u00E9mu v\u00FDzkumu, kter\u00FD zv\u00FD\u0161\u00ED na\u0161i schopnost pochopit v\u00FDznam emoc\u00ED, a aplikovat jej na na\u0161e ch\u00E1p\u00E1n\u00ED jazyka.
