"The research project is aimed at the study of qualitative aspects of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). CLIL lies on the boundary between research in mathematics education, applied linguistics, and psychology. It is an innovative approach to learning representing a new trend in education. The research will focus on the influence of learning in a foreign language on the development of cognitive processes, especially with regards to (a) diagnostics of possible emotional barriers related to the use of CLIL and their analysis, (b) the study of changes in teachers and students' competences in CLIL, (c) the proposal of suitable teaching strategies, and their trying and testing. Attention will be paid to the interaction of the three languages: Czech as the mother tongue (L1), English as a foreign language (L2) and the language of mathematics (L3).
