"The presented project is the third stage of our longitudinal research started in 1994. Selected classes of children are followed throughout nine years of their obligatory schooling. The proposed project is to cover the period starting in the middle of thsixth grade and ending in the middle of the ninth grade. The implemented methodology sustains in qualitative analysis of school actors behaviour confronted with selected data from standard educational and psychological procedures of diagnosis and evaluation. The subject of concern is the complex influence of schooling on mental development. At the same time, both explicit as implicit requirements of school learning are considered (the contents and forms of instruction as well as the hidden curriculum). Within the cognitive domain the effects and mechanisms of influence of particular basic school subjects are analysed.
