"The Czech educational system is one of the most selective and inequality in access to higher education is one of the highest among OECD countries. The development since 1989 has not improved this situation; in fact, things have gotten worse. Recentanalyses also prove that educational inequality in the Czech Republic is deeply embedded both in the structure of its educational system and in its system of social stratification. The principal aim of this proposed project is to identify the mainsources of inequality and the mechanisms of its reproduction. To achieve this goal, it is proposed to establish a panel for a longitudinal study, which would follow a reasonably high number of young adults throughout the most important points of theireducational and occupational careers.
