"Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a new method to cure tumors which is based upon activation of photosensitizer selectively accumulated in the tumour tissue. Activation by a suitable light source is causing necrosis of the tumour. In this project, continuation of clinical testing for intravenous application of own synthesised photosensitizer meso-tetra-(p-sulfonatophenyl) porphine (TPPS4) is suggested. Applications will be extended to various clinical disciplines. We shall also employ the PDT effect to develop a diagnostics and endoscopic diagnostics of early malignancies. Also new photosensitizers with higher effciency, yet unused in PDT, will be synthesized. Their properties and effects will be experimentally tested. In addition, new drug administration forms - photosensitizers in liposomes will be developed and tested. The final aim lies in the introduction of PDT as an alternative method of tumour therapy in the Czech Republic."@en . "0"^^ . . .
