"Subpopulations CD4+ T helper lymphocytes (TH1 and TH2), based on exclusive production of specific cytokines has different immune responses. TH1 cells are principal effectors of cell-mediated immunity and are geberated by p\u00FAatients with intracellular infections and autoimmune diseases (e. g. Hashimoto s thyreoiditis). TH2 subpopulation is involved in humotal host defence and in autoimmune diseases has a protective role. In proposed project TH1 and TH2 lymphocytes will be separated by cloning and each lymphocyte will be tested for intracellular presence of cytokine characteristic for TH1 and TH2 subpopulation. The function of TH1 and TH2 lymphokines will be tested on the primary and secondary immune response in tissue cultures. The fate of endocrine tissues isolated from normal and diseased individuals will be tested in immunologically non-reactive SCID mice and tissue culture.
