To improve the outcome for patients, we need to understand the mechanisms that make these tumors so invasive and todevelop new diagnostic tools, therapeutic methods and agents. It has been suggested that the migration of cells is critically dependent on their shape and size, their binding to various proteins in the extracellular space (ECS) such as hyaluronan bindingprotein that can boost tumor invasiveness, and on the size and geometry of the ECS, i.e. on the so-called ECS diffusion parameters. We shall study whether ECS diffusion parameters are changed in tumors and how they can affect drug delivery to brain tumors.
