"Development of incisor malfomations in mouse model"@en . "Tooth anomalies frequently accompany genetic diseases and can help in understanding the corresponding gene function. Extending knowledge on genes controlling tooth development is available due to mouse odontogenesis model. In mice with a gene alteration, studies usually focus the molars, while only few data are available about incisor development. \u00A0Mouse incisor exhibits a continuous growth, which \u00A0is supplied from epithelial stem cells in the posterior part (cervical loop) of a tooth. Incisor development will be analyzed from initial to terminal cytodifferentiation stages in wild type and mutant (e.g. Sprouty or Tabby/EDA) mice to test the hypothesis: Developmental anomalies of incisor cervical loop in mice with gene alterations can lead to changes in all incisor number, size, shape or structure. Histology, 3D reconstructions, immunostaining, ISH and in vitro techniques will be used. The project will bring important results on relationship of a gene alteration and development of tooth anomalies, and about role of the cervical loop (stem cells niche) in the origin of incisor defects."@en . . .
