"The objective of the project is to characterize by means of Fourier's profilometric transformation, which makes accurate 3D analysis of surface morphology possible, the development of the shape of the palate in clefts from the time of surgery to adulthood. Anomalies in the palatine shape will be correlated with speech disorders and analyzed via records of articulation sites into topograms. The procedure will make it possible to derive the optimal shapes of articulation sites and to define the demands placed on surgical intervations and orthodontic therapy. The other goal of the investigation is to evaluate the effect of spongious bone grafting into the alveolar cleft on the growth of the maxilla and the dentoalveolar arch, the shape of the alveolar process and speech impairment. Comparison with four surgical methods used successively in the past will make possible the objective evaluation of therapeutic results documented in Prague since the fifties, as well as their improvement over time."@en .
