"0"^^ . . "Cooperation of auxins and cytokinins in the regulation of plant cell development is known for very long time. However, present knowledge about the mechanisms of action of both types of photohormones and about the molecular principles of their cooperationis relatively limited. On the basis of available data in plant cells it is possible to propose signal transduction processes analogous to those observed in animal cells. The project will be aimed at the investigation of early phases of transduction of auxin and cytokinin signals across plasmalemma and at posssible molecular mechanisms of cooperation of both types of phytohormones in the regulation of plant cell division and elongation. Research will be focused on the study of: 1. binding of auxins andcytokinins onto the respective receptors, 2. activation of putative guanosinetriphosphate-binding protein (G protein), 3. activation of phospholipase C, and 4. binding of inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate onto the putative receptor.
