"Subject of this comparative study of Ecuadorean p\u00E1ramo vegetation is to investigate mechanisms of succession on volcanic substrata of the two main Andean mountain ridges. The individual, interrelated themes are mostly those of the planned PhD theses (postgraduate study of the participants). It is the case of biosystematic study of the less known p\u00E1ramos dominants of the genus Festuca, behaviour of the main p\u00E1ramos components under the influence of grazing and burning, and processes leading to spatially determined community syngenesis of linchens, mosses and vascular plants on the volcanos compared. All new knowledge concerning vegetation ecology has a perspective of use for regeneration of disturbed mountain vegetation in Neotropis, in natureprotection (national parks and bioreserves in Andes), and in maintaining food sources for native inhabitants of Ecuador."@en . .
