"The main goal of the project is a basic taxonomic study of selected sections of the genus Taraxacum in its diversity centre in mountains of C Asia. The genus is characterized by a complex hybridity and agamospermy, which results in a complicated taxonomic pattern Taxonomic knowledge of the C. Asiatic dandelions is limited, and most of the 'alpha-taxonomy' remains to be studied. A rich material of the sections Leucantha and Sinensia, agamospermous sections from C. Asia, is available to perform a basic taxonomic study of the genus in the area. Identification of modes of reproduction, clonality and ploidy form a basis for the evaluation of the morphological variation in Taraxacum.
