At time scales of tens of minutes up to days, gravity waves, planetary waves and geomagnetic storms belong to main sources of this variability. The proposed project deals with investigations of their effects from the lowerionosphere up to the F region of the ionosphere. These investigations are concentrated on the area of European middle latitudes. The above effects have been studie predominantly separately in individual ionospheric layers and corresponding parts of the neutral atmosphere. The aim of the project is to construct, for the midlatitude Europe, an empirical 'vertikal profile' of effects of all the three above factors on the ionosphere and the related spart of the neutral atmosphere (mesosphere and thermosphere), and to develop a 'scenario' of these effects as a basis for development of a complex model.
