"Gravimetry is a principal geophysical method for prospecting of voids in soils (e.g. old galleries, schafts, and chambers in brown coal sedimentary basins). Precision of quantitative interpretation of geophysical measurement (finding of depth, shape, size and fill of cavity) depends on knowlidges about physical state of surrounding rocks or soils. It has been found out during previous gravity surveys that gravity anomalies over some cavities, which have been verified by boreholes, are more intensive than they should be according to the results of modelling. The reason is a weakened zone above the cavity, which could produce an additional negative gravity anomaly, often more intensive than the anomaly from the cavity itself. The aim of the project will be geotechnical modelling of the shape, size and inner structure of ruptured zones above the voids primarily in the clayish rocks.
