"Orbital and rotational motion of asteroids has been thought for a long time to be a pure example of massless(test)-bodies dynamics in gravitational field of planets. During the last decade, however, novel ideas arose indicating that some nongravitationa]effects played important role in the past evolution of the asteroid belt and that they are still active today; the most important of them are those related to the thermal re-emission of the absorbed sunlight, denoted the Yarkovsky and the YORP effects. Structure of asteroid families, asteroid and meteoroid transport to the planet-crossing region, distribution of rotation periods of small asteroids and even their accurate ephemerides cannot be fully understood without involving these thermal effects.
