"The subject of this project is investigate an interaction between unmagnetized and magnetized obstacles and the solar wind flow using global kinetic numerical simulations. Several planets and moons of our solar system are known to have intrinsic magneticfields. The overall structure of their interaction with the solar wind is determined by a relatively small number of parameters such as the density, Mach number and the interplanetary magnetic field. Recent advance in computer technology allows to study this interaction by global numerical techniques based on the kinetic model of the collisionless plasma. Unlike the traditional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) models, the hybrid and particle in cell (PIC) codes describe the kinetic behaviour of particles. We shall study the formation of the quasi-parallel and quasi-perpendicular bow shock structures formed in front of typical weakly magnetized bodies of the solar system (like Mercury).
