Therefore, the knowledge of phase relations within the Os-Mo-S and Re-Mo-S systems is essential for a better understanding of the behaviour of the Re-Os isotopic system. Phase relations within the Re-Mo-S system have already been studied (Rekharskki et al., 1983; Traub, 1986). However, phase relations within the Os-Mo-S system have so far not been studied systematically. In this project we propose to use the evacuated silica glass tube method to synthesize (Os,Re,Mo)S2 solid solutions and study phase relations within the Os-Mo-S system.
