"The project proposes the research of the Paleocene basal and terminal boundary events in the Carpathian Flysch. These events are otherwise known as the K-T mass extinction and the Pc-E paleoceanographic event. The K-T extinction strongly affected global ecosystem except the deep-sea communities while the Pc-E bound event caused dramatic extinction just in deep-sea environment. The knowledge on the boundary events in deep sea below the CCD is generally poor (especially at the K-T boundary). The Uzgruo section (K-T) in the Raca Unit and the Blatnicka section (Pc-E) in the B\u00EDl\u00E9 Karpaty Unit have been selected for a study. They consist of distal-flysch alternation of hemipelagites and calcareous turbidites deposited under the CCD. Position of the boundaries will be identified using high-resolution integrated stratigraphy.
