Importantly, cell migration is intimately linked to the dissemination of cancer disease and cancer progression to a metastatic and lethal phenotype. One of the earliest steps in cell migration process is the establishment of migration polarity that allows cell to distinguish the front from rear and to determine the direction of cell migration. Recently published observations suggest that nuclear movement may promote cell motility by regulating the establishment of cell polarity. My preliminary data shows that in migrating cells nucleus changes its position to point toward the leading edge and direction of migration, and that ERK pathway regulates this nuclear movement.
