The expression and function of a variety of individual proteins implicated in meiotic maturation and oocyte fertilization have been studied in various mammalian species, however, fine regulation of meiosis remains elusive. This research proposal is focused on: a) characterization of global protein patterns (proteomes) of pig oocytes during in vitro meiotic maturation and identification of proteins that are typically associated with different stages of meiotic division. b) analysis of global protein phosphorylation (phosphoproteomes) in the course of oocyte maturation.
