The chalcogenide glasses will be prepared in high purity and doped with rare-earth elements. Their glass-forming abilities, structure, thermal and optical properties (transmissivity, reflectivity, index of refraction, luminescence, infrared and Raman spectra) will be determined. Special attention will be paid to preparation of pure and doped thin films from bulk glasses either by classical methods or by pulsed laser deposition methods. Their structure and optical properties will be studied and discussed. The rare-earths doped glasses and films form an important group of materials for active application in the near- and mid- infrared region."@en . . .
