"The project represents an interdisciplinary, long term (3 years) research program. Exploration and exploitation of a concerted action of pulse as well as continuous laser radiation of selected parameters and of specific chemical interactions in systems with plasmonic metal nanoparticles represents the objectives of this project. Research strategy is focused on understanging of the mechanisms of selected laser-assisted chemical processes, namely adsorption/desorption, specific metal-adsorbate bonds breaking/remaking and metal ion complexation, undergone by selected chemical species (photochemically stable and/or displaying specific reactivity) in systems with Ag and Au nanoparticles. Results will be employed for preparations of chemically functionalized nanoparticles with sizes optimal for plasmonics and for development of functional metal nanoparticle assemblies providing single molecule SERS signals of a wide range of target molecules (analytes) as their primary performance.
